Vin d’Oranges

Recipe from Mémé Mimi.


Ingredients:

  • 5 pounds bitter oranges
  • 5 1/4 pounds sweet oranges
  • 15 bottles rosé wine (Côte de Provence)
  • 1 quart grain alcohol
  • 1/8 quart grappa
  • 2 vanilla pods
  • 3 cinnamon sticks (4-5 inches long)
  • 17 cups rock sugar
  • 2 lemons, organic and untreated

Preparation:

Cut the oranges in pieces (unpeeled, with seeds). Put all of the ingredients in a giant container. Let macerate 40-45 days, stirring regularly.
