Long Island

We had a fantastic few days in Long Island. Having never been there in the autumn, it was a completely different experience than in the heart of summer. It is very quiet and people are more relaxed, but the fall colours are beautiful.

The village of Amagansett where we stayed is particularly cute:

Bu I think my favourite part was a day trip to Shelter Island, where the light was amazing and the reflections of the clouds on the water gave me so many great shots.

Hampstead Heath

When talking about London, Hyde Park and Regent’s Park get all the headlines, but I have a soft spot for Hampstead Heath in the North, tucked in between the two villages Highgate and Hampstead.

The two lovers on a bench seem to agree with me.

Lyon

It’s been a while since I went to Lyon, but it is a really beautiful city. The countryside around it is spectacular too, in a completely different way. We were there around Christmas time a few years ago, and I took quite a few pictures of the snow covered landscape.

Of course we also went back in town to have some great food and wander around the old city and its traboules.

Anniversary

Today is Stephen & Erik’s first year anniversary, so congratulations! May you have plenty more to come… It was a beautiful day, and the sky cleared up in time for a very moving ceremony.

Cannes Film Festival

Like every year around May we descended upon the south of France for the Berenger’s annual gathering. I guess this is our own equivalent of Thanksgiving, with the three “F” (Family, Food and Festivities) all well represented. This year though, Christine had a surprise up her sleeve, and we ended up going to the Cannes Film Festival, for the evening red carpet showing of Mike Leigh’s Another Year. It was a fantastic evening, great fun, and the movie was quite good too!

Green River

Two years ago, a weekend in Chicago. It was Saint Patrick’s day, we wandered around the city, along the banks of the river turned green for the occasion. We had a lovely day, drank some beer, watched some college basketball, went for dinner.

I asked her to marry me and she said yes.

I only scanned it recently when I was going through my dad’s collection of his black&white pictures, otherwise I might have picked that one to print and hang up at Gabriel’s restaurant instead of this one:
